Nordic MINFLUX networking
BNMI’s funding opportunities allows you to interact more. Interview with Hans Blom, manager of the Advanced Light Microscopy facility in Stockholm, Sweden, regarding a job shadowing visit to Odense, Denmark.
Why did you go to the Odense facility?
Late October (trick or treat yearly time) I had the great pleasure of visit the DaMBIC facility (https://dambic.dk) for two days. This BNMI exchange was focused on MINFLUX microscopy, i.e., nanometers precision imaging available presently in Odense and Stockholm.
What knowledge transfer was covered?
As both the Odense and the Stockholm facilities are new service providers of MINFLUX imaging, we discussed system performance, calibration procedure, data collection and processing, including sample preparation. Knowledge on supporting different life science areas with nanoscale imaging were also shared. We also discussed potential collaborative projects and how to best support users on a Nordic level.
Feedback to other facility staff scientists?
I can highly recommend doing an exchange. Physically meeting and seeing how other Nordic microscopy facilities work is great. The BNMI network is not just a ‘Danish smorgasbord’, but a great Nordic imaging infrastructure community. You can learn a lot and can also share knowledge on supporting different life science areas, even generating possible project collaborations.
