Bridging Nordic Microscopy Infrastructure (BNMI)

The overall objective of Bridging Nordic Microscopy Infrastructure (BNMI) will be to strengthen the international competitiveness and facilitating the development of world-leading Nordic advanced microscopy environments, by organizing scientific and technical Symposia, workshops and knowledge-exchange seminars, shadowing programs for facility staff and short-term scientific mobility grants for researchers and increase the training and innovation activities among the participant Nordic countries.

Management

The participating countries in this infrastructure are: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. BNMI aims to become a new Nordic platform to facilitate more efficient collaboration and a long-term partnership between these countries. All these bioimaging infrastructures are united under the Euro-Bioimaging European Research Infrastructure Consortium leading the whole Europe working toward a better research, diagnostics and patient care.

Courses

One of the main tasks of the Bridging Nordic Microscopy Infrastructure (BNMI)is to offer courses and training both for the staff personnel and for users in general who are interested in learning more about microscopy. International and national courses offered by the members of the BNMI are all listed here. You can also find links to some courses offered by our collaborators in other countries.

Impact for the Community

Our organized imaging activities aim to enhance the status of Nordic countries in the European imaging community and will eventually, through education and a proper communication platform, set the stage for Nordic research. The increased imaging knowledge in the Nordic countries will make them very attractive to excellent researchers from outside, strengthening the Nordic research even more. The BNMI will have a strong impact on skills and education agendas, increasing the competences of their staff, researchers and students, and through their outreach to pupil and students and the general public, they will improve the perception and understanding of microscopy for life sciences technology in society at large. In addition to access provision, standardized and high-quality training of tomorrow’s researchers in imaging technologies and coordinated data management and analysis tools, provides essential infrastructures for ensuring the excellence of Nordic life sciences.
